Join Our Beaudesert Volunteer Team!

You don’t need to be a tourism expert to volunteer with us. Whether you know where to grab a great lunch in our beloved Beauy, a nice scenic drive route, or where the best waterfalls in the area are, your knowledge matters. Visitors love real, local recommendations, and we’ll give you everything you need to feel confident answering questions (and where to look up answers when you’re not sure!)

Some of our volunteers have lived in the area their whole lives. Others are new to town and simply enjoy connecting with people and learning more about the Scenic Rim. Everyone brings something unique, and that’s exactly what makes our centre so special.

As a volunteer, you may:

  • Greet visitors and help with local enquiries
  • Sell local arts and crafts in our gallery
  • Help maintain neat and tidy brochure displays
  • Assist with basic tourism statistics collection
  • Prepare and serve tea, coffee, and our renowned Devonshire Tea
(Don’t worry — it’s super simple, and often a great icebreaker with visitors!)

There’s no minimum commitment, but we suggest blocks of around 3 hours if possible – morning or afternoon. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or just now and then, we’d love to hear from you.

Come in for a cuppa and a chat - we’ll show you around and see if it’s the right fit for you!

To enquire, you can:

  • Visit our Contact Page, where you'll find our centre’s phone number and a message form
  • Drop in any time during opening hours for a look around and a chat with one of our friendly volunteers
  • Visit on a Monday when our Volunteer Coordinator is usually in the centre - a great day to ask questions and get started

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

There is no minimum commitment. However, blocks of at least 3 hours are ideal, as this fits in with our existing rostering system: mornings (9am to 12pm) and afternoons (12pm to 3pm). Some volunteers work a single shift, while others prefer to stay for the full day.

We need volunteers across all days of the week, including weekends, as our centre is open 7 days.

Yes, you’re very welcome to bring a friend or family member to volunteer with you.

We don’t have a minimum age requirement. Our youngest volunteer is 13 and helps on market days, and we also have volunteers in their 80s, along with many others in between.

No, there are no costs involved in volunteering with us.

Training & Skills

No special skills or training are required. We provide induction training for all new volunteers, and you’ll always be rostered with someone who knows the ropes.

You don’t need to be an expert. Any local knowledge you have is valuable. We provide training and support resources for common questions, and we run familiarisation tours a couple of times a year to help you get to know more of what the region has to offer.

We use a very simple iPad-based system to process sales. Full training is provided, and you’ll always be rostered with someone experienced. It only takes a few taps, and if you're not confident with technology, this is a great chance to learn in a relaxed and friendly setting.

No special food handling skills or training are needed. The process is very simple. If you can press a button and spread jam on a scone, you’ll be just fine! It's also a great way to connect with visitors.

We always roster at least two volunteers together. If a tourist bus is expected, we may schedule extra helpers. Our shifts are 9am to 12pm and 12pm to 3pm, though some volunteers prefer to stay for the full day.

Smart casual, comfortable clothing is ideal. We sometimes have centre shirts available for purchase, but there’s no fixed uniform and no requirement to buy anything specific.

Support, Perks & Accessibility

Yes! Volunteering lets you give back to the community and share your love of the Scenic Rim with visitors who genuinely appreciate it. We also run familiarisation tours during the year, where volunteers get to visit local attractions and enjoy the experience as a tourist for a few hours. It’s a fun way to discover more of the region.

Our team is known for its positive energy, great conversations, and strong friendships. You will also enjoy learning new skills along the way.

Tea and coffee are provided free of charge. A small staff discount applies to selected items for sale. You’ll just need to bring your own morning tea or lunch if you want one.

Yes, parking is available at the front of the centre.

Yes, the centre is accessible for people with mobility needs.

No, you don’t need a Blue Card or background check to volunteer with us.
