Camping
Surrounding Beaudesert are some truly stunning camp grounds, some with all the amenities and some designed for those who really like to get back to nature and enjoy bush camping.
There are a number of brochures on individual camp grounds located in our visitor information centre. Drop in, or call us, if you are looking for further information on a particular camp ground. Our friendly volunteers may even be able to give you a first hand account of staying at the camp ground you wish to visit. The numbers on the list correspond to the numbers on the map, to help locate the camp grounds.
1. Andrew Drynan Park
Located 47km from Beaudesert and 19km from Rathdowney on the Lions Road, south of Beaudesert, the Andrew Drynan park is near Mt Chingee. Running Creek is an always flowing creek and the park offers a great bush camp among the trees. BYO drinking water. Pets are to be restrained. No showers - a dip in the creek will do the job, but please don't use soap or detergent. Phone 5544 1281.
2. Mt Barney Lodge
Camping grounds with great views of Mt Barney: tiled, hot showers, open fireplaces, shelter shed and covered wash up area. Bookings esential for long weekends. Adventure activities available. Phone 5544 3233. www.mtbarneylodge.com.au
3. Burgess Park
On Christmas Creek, with ideal swimming. BYO drinking water. Managed by Wildwood Park Management, the park is 20km from Beaudesert and about 85km from Brisbane. Phone 5544 8120.
4. Darlington Park
Run by Wildwood Park Management, this park is situated in the World Heritage listed Scenic Rim, about90km from Brisbane and 28km from Beaudesert on Kerry Road. BYO drinking water. Onsite manager. Please book for school and public holidays. 5544 8120.
5. Binna Burra Mountain Campsite
At Beechmont, with powered and unpowered sites, cafe and on-site tents. Phone 1800 074 260 or 5533 3622.
6. Stinson Park
Located 42km south of Beaudesert on Christmas Creek Road, this site has access to Christmas Creek, a clean fast-flowing stream fed by Lamington National Park. This location was the camp site for the Stinson plane crash rescue party in 1937. 20 camp sites available; electris BBQ, open fires permitted subject to fire bans. No pets. Caretaker visits daily. 7. Lake Moogerah Caravan Park
On the shore of Lake Moogerah, with camping, sailing, water skiing and fishing. Both powered and unpowered sites.Two boat ramps, self-contained cabin. No dogs or generators. 15 minutes from Boonah. Phone 5540 5600. www.moogerah.com.
8. The Gorge Camping area
Bush camping and caravanning ground, with a long frontage to Reynolds Creek at the base of Mt Edward. BYO drinking water and firewood. No powered sites. 15 minutes from Boonah. Phone 5526 0683.
9. Flanagan Reserve
Situated in the shadows of Mt Barney National Park about 45 k from Beaudesert and 105k from Brisbane. Close to, but not next to, Mt Maroon, Mt Barney and Mt Lindesay. Popular with bush walkers. On the Logan River, lots of shade, ideal for caravans. Laundry tub, kitchen sink. No trail bikes. Phone 5544 3128.
10. Bigriggen Park
Bigriggen is 12k from Rathdowney and 90 minutes from Brisbane. Set in bushland and river flats at the foothills of Mt Barney. Caretaker on site. Camping ground and tent sites, caravan and camper trailer sites, powered sites and bunkhouse accommodation. Pets are welcome. Phone 5463 6190. www.bigriggen.com.au
11. Lamington National Park

12. Thunderbird Park
This is an amazing wildlife and geological rich oasis stretching over 112 hectares on Tamborine Mountain. Translucent rock pools, inspiring landscapes, towering rainforests and star-studded skies all add to the magic of our camping. Both powered and unpowered bush camp sites and caravan sites available. 13. Sharp Park
About 90k from Brisbane and 3k from Canungra on the Coomera River. Picnic tables and shelters and paddling in the river. Solar showers for hire. Tank water. Firewood for sale. Swimming. Park supervised.
14. Yarramalong Outdoor Recreation Centre
Two great camping areas, the main and Island on 160 acres. Trees and natural surrounds with fireplace. Indoor recreation area. 23. Scenic Rim Adventure Park
Four wheel drive and camping experience on a 680 acre property. Fourteen campsites, some for large groups and others more secluded and intimate. Hot showers with toilets within walking distance of each campsite. Park includes more than 20k of off-road four-wheel-driving tracks, children's play areas, bush walking and wildlife.
