Bach to Bush concert

Thursday 13 July 2017, 6pm for 7pm start, at the Boonah Cultural Centre, High St, Boonah. 

Queensland Music Festival presents Bach to Bush featuring internationally renowned cellist, Louise King and legendary percussionist John Morrison brought together for a special tour across the state, travelling to seven regional Queensland towns with an entertaining and accessible program. Featuring music from Bach to Blues, Jimi Hendrix to Egyptian dance, the Bach to Bush tour is an eclectic celebration of the early and modern classics that all can enjoy… they may even get you dancing! Entry is free but tickets are required. Book online, at the box office or by phone.

Louise King is an inspiring concert performer, teacher and recording artist who has worked all over the world from London to Hong Kong. Based on the Sunshine Coast, Louise works as a freelance musician performing with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Topology, The Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Southern Cross Soloists, Endeavour Trio, Tulipwood Quartet and Chamber Orchestra. Louise records and performs as a session musician for singer songwriters such as Katie Noonan and international touring artists such as Il Divo and Josh Groban.

John Morrison is an Australian jazz drummer, band leader, music educator and (in his spare time) an experienced commercial pilot. On top of his busy playing schedule, John is a gifted educator, producer, and patron of many outstanding youth bands and orchestras. He has mentored literally hundreds of young musicians into successful playing careers and is an outspoken proponent of music as a collaborative experience, not a competitive one. Ladies Night

Friday 14 July 2017, 6pm (bus leaves Jimboomba Tavern at 7pm). This is the Chicks Conquering Cancer Ladies Fundraising Event 2017. It will bea fantastic, fun-filled entertaining and a laugh a minute night. The idea is that each person has a tin to collect donations from the patrons in each of the 5 venues visited. World Environment Day Festival

Saturday 15 July 2017, 9am-4pm at the Outlook,4001 Boonah-Ipswich Road, Boonah. This event, organised by the Boonah Organisation for a Sustainable Shire, celebrates all things for a sustainable lifestyle - creative workshops, displays and demonstratios, artisanstalls, plants, art, quality organic food, local produce, native wildlife, vintage wares and free entertainment. St Mary's Community Fete

Saturday 22 July 2017, 11am-4pm, at St Mary's Church, Bromelton St, Beaudesert. There will be craft stalls, cakes, confectionary, burgers and chips, pulled pork burgers, Devonshire teas, mystery bag stall, plants, raffles and a book stall. Activities include a land train, laser skirmish, giant slide, frog hopper and face painting. There will be entertainment, trash and treasure and beads and bling. Come along and join in the fun! 

An Afternoon of Classics with the Davonski Concert Orchestra

Saturday 22 July 2017 at 2pm, at Harvest Point Church, 25 Walker St, Gleneagle. Conducted by Noel Bowden, the orchestra will present an entertaining program from Mozart to Strauss, Bizet's "Carmen" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". Admission is $20, children under 12 free. This concert supports the efforts of ADORE (Australians Defending Orphans' Rights Everywhere) Little Children Botswana by raising awareness and funds for the children affected by the HIV and Aids virus in the Okavango Delta.

Tradies Auction Night

Saturday 12 August 2017, 6pm at the Jimboomba Hall. Do you need stuff done around the house? Then come to our fundraiser for families in the area with cancer patients. Tradies offering their services include plumbers, builders, electricians, painters,cleaners,mechanics,panel beaters, fencers, landscapers, equipment hire and more!!! Rock and Roll Trivia Night

Saturday 26 August 2017, 6pm, at the Beaudesert Golf Club, 135 Kerry Road, Beaudesert. Doors open at 6pm; trivia starts at 7pm. Organised by Beaudesert Scouts. Tables of 8 people, but single players are welcome. Cost is $15 per person, $35 including a 2-course meal. There will be a best dress prize, cent auction andraffles. Scenic Rim Bioblitz

Sunday 15 October 2017 10am-Tuesday 17 October 10am. The Scenic Rim branch of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland is organising a 2-day Bioblitz on private and public land on the western slopes of Tamborine Mountain, followed by a week of accepting photos and descriptions of animals, plants and fungi from across the shire. The aim is to identify as many species as possible within a given area for 48 hours starting from 10am Sunday morning (after opening by "Bilby Brother" Frank Manthey) 15 October. There will be experts on hand to assist with identification.
