People's Orchestra

Various times and venues, from now until 14 April 2018. BE A PART OF THE PEOPLE'S ORCHESTRA! Calling all musicians, of all genres and skill levels. to be a part of a unique experience, original musical composition and performance.

Work with talented composer and musician Andrew Veivers, to create the Scenic Rim People's Orchestra for Fires on top of Mountains events in April 2018. Andrew will attend your practice time wherever you are located in the Scenic Rim.

Over the past twenty years Andrew Veivers has established himself as a musician, teacher, director and composer of the highest calibre - touring, recording, composing, and arranging extensively for solo projects, his groups Flamenco Fire and The Saruzu Quartet as well as for great Australian artistic institutions such as The Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Queensland and the Woodford Folk Festival.

Game On Concert

Saturday 17 March 2018, at the Boonah Cultural Centre, High St, Boonah. The Fassifern Voices will give a concert of songs from the Commonwealth. Phone SRRC for more information.

Hartley Newnham Concert

Sunday 18 March 2018, 2.30pm at historic Rockton House, 2 Rockton Street, Newtown, Ipswich. Featured artists are Geof Webb (tenor), Nicholas Routley (piano) and Hartley Newnham (counter tenor and piano). The programme features Benjamin Britten's Abraham and Isaac (Canticle 2) for counter tenor, tenor and piano. There will also be music by Bach and Brahms.

It will be without interval and will last about an hour, followed by refreshments in the garden.

Shared Fire Event Light Show

Fire on Water

Saturday 14 April 2018 at the Ramada Resort, Kooralbyn Valley. The Fires on Top of Mountains Project continues to work towards the Shared Fire Community Events to be held on Tamborine Mountain, Beaudesert and Boonah with a finale event "Fire on Water" to be held at the Ramada Resort. Fire on Water will incorporate the First Nations Shared Fire Project and The Shared Fire Community Story Project in a narrative that weaves fire, light, theatre, community choirs, dance and orchestra in the heart of the Scenic Rim.The event will be held on dusk and conclude in time for attendees to return to their homes or if broadcast rights are viable as part of sponsorship/funding to any of the three outdoor screens to see the Finals of the Games.

It is envisaged that a key part of the event will be sculptural fires and fire installations on floating barges on the water and a welcome ceremony from the Indigenous community.
