Mt Alford Artisan Market

Saturday 29 September 2018, at Mt Alford, near Boonah. The Mt Alford Artisan markets are held seasonally four times a year featuring stalls that recycle, reuse, are handmade, organic, local and have low food miles. Stalls include homemade ice cream, artisan bread, jewellery, plants, books, ceramics, original artworks, vintage clothes, homemade vegetarian food and organic produce.

Arty Pharty Party

Saturday 6 October 2018, 7am-12 at Westerman Park, Beaudesert.

At this special Beaudesert Marketfest, there will be demonstrations by Lyrebird Gallery artists on knitting, weaving, spinning, felting, pottery, painting, quilting and jewellery. All items will be for sale. Also, poets from the Bush Bards will entertain us with their poetry! Come along and do some early Christmas shopping while enjoying the entertainment.

Soul Revue presented by the Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts will reprise the hits of The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops and The Jackson Five in one dynamic, energy-packed show.

The Motown sound - from the United States' motor manufacturing city of Detroit which gave rise to Motown Records - became the heartbeat of American pop music in the Sixties and is still going strong.

In Soul Revue, Brisbane's Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts has created a trans-Pacific Indigenous cultural fusion that will showcase the talents of young and emerging artists from communities across Australia.

The Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts is an inspirational centre of training excellence and innovation for contemporary dance, music, and acting encouraging excellence, professionalism and respect for Indigenous culture. Limerick writing competition

Friday 7 September 2018-Saturday 6 October 2018. In the weeks leading up to the October Market Fest, Beaudesert, we are calling for entries in the limerick writing competition being judged by popular choice on 6th October. A limerick is a humorous poem consisting of five lines. The first, second, and fifth lines must have seven to ten syllables while rhyming and having the same verbal rhythm. The third and fourth lines only have to have five to seven syllables, and have to rhyme with each other and have the same rhythm. Nashos State Conference

Thursday 11 October-Sunday 14 October 2018, starting at the Beaudesert RSL. The National Servicemen's Association, commonly known as the "Nashos", is holding this year's state conference in Beaudesert. On Friday there will be a bus trip through the Scenic Rim. On the Sunday there will be a church service on the verandah of the Beaudesert Library for the blessing of the National Service plaque being installed in Jubilee Park's palm garden.

The conference will be held in October but Queensland branch secretary Brian Buckby said they had already booked out all hotels and motels in town for the event and they were looking for more accommodation.

Military Vehicle Show and Swap Meet

Thursday 18-Saturday 20 October 2018, at the Beaudesert Showgrounds. The theme is the war in the Pacific; there will be displays from World War I,as well as re-enactments.A vintage plane will do a flyover on the morning of the 20 October.

International Observe the Moon night

Saturday 20 October 2018, 5-9pm at Woodstock Youth Enterprise Trust at 231 Plunkett Road, Tamborine. This is an annual event to encourage more people to look up and notice Earth's nearest neighbour. The event is organised by the Tamborine Village Lions Club and presented by the Southern Astronomical Society, South East Queensland. There will be a sausage sizzle. Entry is by gold coin donation.
